When summer’s frenzy gives way to the tranquility of fall, it’s time to take pleasure in discovering the Magdalen Islands at a more leisurely pace. And that makes all the more sense considering the trend towards slow tourism, which invites us to savour the moment. Walking across the archipelago on the Sentiers Entre Vents et Marées trails, practising yoga on the shores, organizing your own photo safari to capture the seascapes under the autumn glow, or simply connecting with the locals are all ways to recharge your batteries away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Discover the flavours of the Magdalen Islands

The Magdalen Islands offer no shortage of flavours, even in the fall! The chillier weather also means it’s time to pick graines (the local name for wild cranberries) and chanterelles; and why not enjoy this quieter time to sample the offerings of local producers such as Fromagerie du Pied-de-Vent (chesses) and Le Fumoir d’Antan (smoked fish). And when it’s time to go out to eat, you’ll find delicious meals at a number of places, including Domaine du Vieux-Couvent (open until December) as well as L’Îlot Café-Buvette, Resto de l’île and Boulangerie Madelon (open year-round). Bear in mind that some establishments may close for the season, so it’s always best to call ahead!
